This panel, which is filled with well-traveled, veteran artists, will focus on two main topics: the global impact of hip-hop, and sampling. The global impact of hip-hop can’t be understated, and this panel will discuss what they’ve seen during their overseas travels, what the hip-hop scenes are like in other countries, and why, with a few noted exceptions, foreign emcees have such a hard time making an impact in the US. The sampling portion of the discussion will start by taking a look at what musical ideas these artists have taken from their trips and incorporated into their own music, and then move on to other questions regarding the production technique.
