Widespread fear of the natural world has been replaced with fear of technology. They are both morally ambiguous, constantly evolving and our understanding of both are essential to our wellbeing in the 21st century. Investigating the synthesis between social behavior, nature & the digital world has been my primary focus over the last few years. I implement arduinos, LEDs and the Internet as readily as I include plants and animals (including humans) in my process of investigation. The Cycles project allowed me to not only work with technology to examine fears about human impact on the environment but to collaborate with others.

Meredith Fitzgerald received a undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Studio Arts and has just recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Fine Art from Pratt Institute. Her concentration has evolved over the years from painting landscapes to creating physical and online environments for people to interact with. She has exhibited her work in Pittsburgh, Maine, Massachusetts and New York. Currently she is participating in a residency at the Vermont Studio Center.
